Miami Shores Real Estate

Miami Shores ( officially named Miami Shores Village ), is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Miami.  It was first developed in the 1920’s and now has more than 4,000 single family homes.  These homes are all custom designed and were built in different styles, in different decades, and thus you have charming 1920’s old Spanish Mediterranean,  French chateau, Italian villas, modern 1950’s ranch homes, Mexican style haciendas, arts and crafts, Tudor style, and up to today’s modern concrete and glass box contemporaries.

The architects who designed many of the homes are among Florida’s most famous, having also designed homes in Coral Gables and Miami Beach.   Streets are lined with beautiful old oak trees and palms, and most homes are on large lots that are 75′ wide and total more than 8,500 square feet.   Miami Shores Village is nick-named ” The Shores,” and has its own mayor and police force.

Miami Shores also borders along Biscayne Bay with beautiful estate homes on the water and a lovely bayfront promenade park.

Miami Shores is in an amazing location within Miami.  It is 15 minutes from downtown, the airport, the beaches, Aventura Mall, and 2 minutes from the I-95 exit and entrance which is titled “Miami Shores”.    Miami Shores also has an adorable main street  (NE 2nd Ave), which is in the heart of Miami Shores and contains shops, restaurants, a live theater, post office, and town hall.

Remember the television show ” The Golden Girls”.   Their MIMO ranch home was supposed to be in Miami Shores!   In addition,  Al Capone had an apartment in Miami Shores before he built his home in Miami Beach.

The jewel of Miami Shores is the Miami Shores Country Club.  This is built on the expansive Miami Shores golf course which was originally built in the early 1920’s. At that time, booming and popular Miami Beach, with its hotels for the rich and famous, had no golf course.   These luxury hotels would bus their guests to play golf in Miami Shores ( which hardly had any homes at that time built yet ).   So today, you have a beautiful country club and golf course in the heart of the city.   Other popular features include a water park, a children’s athletic center, soccer, tennis center and more.    Note that the country club and all these amenities are open to the public.  You can become members or pay as you go.

There are 8 schools located in Miami Shores.   The Doctors Charter School ( public ), Miami Country Day, St. Rose of Lima, and Barry University are among the best and most well known.

The population in Miami Shores is among the most diverse in Miami.  It is recognized as a wonderful neighborhood for families, pet lovers, single parents, as well as a large gay population.  The median income is $101,000/year,  and 49% of the residents have a college degree.

Once you see the homes in Miami Shores, you will fall in love.   They usually have fireplaces, vaulted beamed ceilings, solid hardwood floors, barrel tile roofs, lush mature landscaping, and many have large in-ground pools.  Most homes have lush tropical mature landscaping with fruit trees ( mango, avocado, banana, orange, and lemon are the most common).

Homes in Miami Shores are priced between $350,000 – $15 million, however, with a budget of $500-$600,000, you can find a lovely, charming 2,000 square foot, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathroom home with a large 9,000 sf lot and beautiful mature tropical landscaping.

Another very special feature about Miami Shores is that most streets have back alleys for trash collection and car parking.   This gives the fronts of the homes a clean, uncluttered look that makes these homes highly desirable.

Many of the homeowners are professionals who grew up in Miami Shores and never wanted to leave.    Let us show you Miami Shores and you will fall in love, as well.
